Grandfathering

What is Grandfathering?

Grandfathering is the process by which those who have attained a level of knowledge appropriate to the safe practice of Naturopathy may be admitted to membership of the Society.

Why is Grandfathering important?

Naturopathy has a rich history of knowledge acquisition before and since the formal structures for assessment came into place. The maintenance of this learning and the recognition of those possessing the skills imperative to the continuance of naturopathy.

When should Grandfathering be used?

Consideration should be requested under the Grandfathering admission process by those who meet one or more of the following criteria:

The applicant has:

  1. Completed a formal course of study prior to 1st May 2008 for which no evidence of the award is available.
  2. Graduated from an education provider that is no longer in existence and/or for which no evidence of graduation is available.
  3. No evidence of formal training but can evidence practicing as a Naturopath prior to 1st May 2008 and for an extent of not less than ten years.
